Newport Brass Faucets
Kitchen Faucets
Newport Brass offers
multiple kitchen faucets such as 8-inch widespread and single hole. We
offer faucets from traditional to contemporary which allows the customer
to choose the best faucet based upon their needs. There are two main
differences between a kitchen faucet and lavatory faucet, kitchen faucet
spouts generally have a longer center to center reach and also swivel to
accommodate for the kitchen sink.
All Newport Brass
kitchen faucets are made of brass. Brass is considered a superior
material because it does not rust and also because of its toughness and
ability to withstand extreme temperatures. Brass faucets last longer
than faucets made of zinc alloy or plastic and require the least care.
Newport Brass cartridges are ceramic disc type cartridges. These are
made of solid brass bodies and stems that provide smooth and consistent
operation. They are a 1/4 turn cartridge, and they feature a positive
stop that means lever handles will never be out of alignment. They
always stay in their original installed position. There are no washers
in a ceramic disc valves. In order for water to flow, the holes (or
ports) of the two ceramic discs must be aligned.
SINGLE HOLE
As the name implies,
these faucets require a single hole for installation. The most popular
single-hole faucet is the 940 or 941 which is the traditional style with
and without a side spray. The only parts which are replaceable for the
valve body section are the main cartridge, diverter cartridge, and the
two o-rings from the top and middle of the valve body. The 9401 is the
other single-hole kitchen faucet which is more of a contemporary style.
Also, there are faucet hole cover plates which can be used in
conjunction with this faucet to cover up either 4” or 8” center holes.
8-INCH KITCHEN WIDE
SPREAD
Widespread faucets
feature a separate spout and valves and require three holes to be cut in
the surface. Their spread can range anywhere from 8” to 20”. These are
normally equipped with flexible stainless steel braided hoses that allow
the flexibility of their spread. Also widespread faucets do not have to
be set in a straight line. This allows the faucet to be installed in a
manner that follows the line of curved lavatory sinks.
SIDE SPRAY
Side sprays are
available with all of our deck mounted kitchen faucets (single-hole or
widespread). If the faucet did not come with a side spray, one cannot
be adapted to it. If the side spray is leaking, the first thing to
check would be the screw which is located under the faceplate. You
would unthread the faceplate off making sure to keep all the washers in
order, and then you may adjust the screw by either tightening it to the
right or loosening it to the left. This affects the tension on the
thumb piece. If it is too tight then it can cause the trigger to
activate allowing a dribble of water to steadily stream out of the side
spray. The next option would to try replacing the diverter cartridge or
assembly, if all else fails replace the side spray (#129).
POT FILLER
Wall mounted kitchen
cold-water only fixture. Primarily used to fill pots, hence the name
pot filler. The pot filler has an extendable spout, there is no aerator
on this faucet and one cannot be adapted to it. This is because an
aerator will cause the spout to leak at the extension joint.
Common Issues and
Solutions
·
Water is
dripping from the tip of the spout.
Replace correct
cartridge (cold or hot, see the “Valves” section of the Tech Manual for
the correct part number).
·
Water is
dripping where the hoses from the hot and cold valves meet the spout.
Replace tee assembly
(see tee assembly chart).
·
Water is
dripping from the base of the spout.
Replace spout (see
parts price list in back of Newport
Catalog for part
number).
·
Restricted water flow
Check the aerator for
debris, clean the cartridges making sure there is no debris, and check
that the tee assembly is installed correctly. If all is good then
replace valves (see the “Valves” section of the Tech Manual for the
correct part number).
·
Water is
dripping from the side spray while the kitchen faucet is on.
Try adjusting the
screw down the center of the face of the side spray. Next try cleaning
the diverter cartridge if it is a 941. If all else fails reorder the
side spray (#129).
·
Water is
blasting out of my pot filler getting all over the place.
Do not turn the water
on full blast.
·
On my
940/941 water leaks from where the spout swivels on the faucet.
Replace the o-rings
and cartridge on the valve assembly for the 940/941.
